Bioinformatics and Computational Biology: A short
history of where we have
been and where we might go.
A short history of applied bioinformatics, pure bioinformatics, and
computational biology will be presented. The history has some possible
implications for the present and the future. A number of funding programs
for bioinformatics and computational biology will be overviewed to discuss
possible support for future work. In addition, current and future work for
the Tennessee Mouse Genome Consortium informatics will be presented. In
addition, a nascent program for the collaborative and comparative analysis
of mammalian phenotype analysis will be overviewed. Needs and opportunities
for collaborations will be discussed.
